01

What is one destination that has inspired your creativity, and why?

There isn’t one particular destination that has inspired my creativity, I am more inspired by people and objects than places. I love creating environments that really reflect my clients style and personalities. I live in Lake Como, which in my opinion is one of the most beautiful places in the world, a large portion of our work is here and working in the same places motivates me and pushes my creativity because I don’t like things to look the same, plus I owe it to my clients to make their designs unique to them.

Can you share an unforgettable experience from your travels that left a lasting impression?

One of the most memorable trips was one we did this year to South Africa. We did a few days in Cape Town and a few days on Safari. We were fortunate enough to have had the trip expertly curated and we spent a lot of time there with locals and got to see and do things that were off the tourist trail. We got to visit a township and meet a charity there - Lalela, that work with school kids to help support learning through art, that was humbling and emotional. On the safari we got to go on a training session with the dog unit that were being trained to hunt down poachers, we did some of the exercise on foot and some in a helicopter, that was really extraordinary, this has to be at my number one position of trip of a lifetime.

Which season inspires you most in your work and why?

If I were to choose a season I would definitely pick autumn or winter, not only for the wonderful array of winter florals that I love like Anemones, Ranunculus and all the berries, but also for winter textiles. I find winter fabrics more interesting than summer ones, I love tweeds, cashmere, chenille, suedes and leathers. The other reason this season is more interesting for me is for the richer warmer colour pallete.

Where in London do you go to recharge or find inspiration?

If I were to chose my favourite place to go to recharge it would be Claridge's Spa, I have had the most incredible massages and face treatments and also acupuncture there and it is pampering at its finest and the design and environment there is so chic. To find inspiration, I find it useful to visit any new hotels and bars, as it is those spaces that often influence our design.

05

What would a perfect, inspiring day in London look like for you?

I unfortunately don’t get much time in London but I do love wandering around Golborne Road, Westbourne Grove, Soho, Liberty’s….anywhere where there is a mix of interesting interior stores, lifestyle store and of course fashion.

06

What is your go-to spot in London for an unforgettable experience?

Aside from Claridge's for my pampering I do love to eat great food so seeking out unforgettable food experiences is always something I try and do, also because restaurants are a great source of inspiration for many things - style of service, food, drinks, wines, food style and presentation.

07

Is there a particular flower that holds special meaning or significance for you?

There are two flowers that have a special significance….Snowdrops because the day my daughter was born the first snowdrops of that year appeared in the garden, the other are Busy Lizzy’s, my gran used to have them in her house and I remember her feeding them cold tea and thinking this was the funniest thing ever!

08

If you could send flowers to one person, who would it be and why?

I often send flowers to friends, family and clients. Who doesn’t love receiving flowers. There’s a long list of people I need to send flowers to as a gesture of gratitude, but if I had one bunch to send today I would send it to my mum and dad, for the unfaltering support they show me.

09

Is there a film or piece of art that resonates with your personal or professional philosophy?

I can’t say that there is any one particular piece of art or film that resonates with my philosophy on life. For sure there are films and art pieces that at various times throughout my life have been thought provoking and have reaffirmed personal goals or personal opinions. I do however remember watching ‘Sliding Doors’ years ago and it resonating with me and my philosophy on fate and that everything happens for a reason.

What book or author has influenced your career or perspective on life?

I am ashamed to say that I have never been a big reader, but if I can add magazines to this list…. from a very early age I was fascinated by fashion and design and loved getting my hands on a copy of Vogue and flicking through the pages definitely fuelled my love of fashion and made me all the more determined to make my career path in design. In more recent years I have started to read more and found it way more addictive than I expected, I love reading Irish authors as it makes me feel more connected with my roots, and reading Irishism’s that make me smile and remind me of family and friends.
