01
What is one destination that has inspired your creativity, and why?
I find peace and quiet to be a wonderful time to inspire my creativity. I love to go to our home in Switzerland with my family. It’s always the place where we can switch off and spend time together in the beautiful countryside. I am so inspired by the colours of nature. I am also lucky enough to travel a fair bit for work. I absolutely love discovering the history and culture of an area while sourcing various treasures for my shop! I was in Madeira earlier this month looking at all their incredible linens and of course Venice is my favourite for handblown glass. It is so inspiring to see such incredible skill.
02
Can you share an unforgettable experience from your travels that left a lasting impression?
About 30 years ago, I was travelling for work by myself in India. I had a quiet morning so got up early before sunrise and went to The Taj Mahal. I thought I couldn’t be so close without visiting and it was absolutely spectacular. I got there at sunrise, so I managed to avoid the crowds. I love that it was built by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahanin memory of his wife. It is an incredibly powerful symbol of love that has lasted centuries, and I still think about it often.
03
Which season inspires you most in your work and why?
Autumn. The colour palette is my favourite. The parks in London at this time of year have always inspired both my work and my outfits! I love olive green, amber, rust and chocolate brown. You’ll find lots of these colours in my wardrobe and home and also in my shop.
04
Where in London do you go to recharge or find inspiration?
Work is very busy and I’m always out and about so I’m going to be boring and say - home. In the study with fire lit with my darling pug Stanley and a pile of interiors books to flick through.
05
What would a perfect, inspiring day in London look like for you?
A crisp sunny morning walk in Hyde Park (never in the rain!) then I would go to an art gallery in the morning and a lovely lunch with friends. In the afternoon, I would like to go for a facial and then home for supper with my husband and children. This is a total dream because it never happens.
06
What is your go-to spot in London for an unforgettable experience?
I love the ballet and the opera. I saw Alice in Wonderland recently and it was wonderful. I love it and from time to time even go by myself.
07
Is there a particular flower that holds special meaning or significance for you?
Sweet peas are my favourites. My mother always grew them in her garden and would put them in my bedroom next to my bed. The scent transports me back to that wonderful time.
08
If you could send flowers to one person, who would it be and why?
I would have to alternate between my daughters. They are about to do their A Levels, and I think beautiful flowers on their desks would be so uplifting during all the intense revision.
09
Is there a film or piece of art that resonates with your personal or professional philosophy?
Rear window by Alfred Hitchcock. There is never a dull moment in that film, and I am always on the edge of my seat. Just like in my life. You never know what’s going to happen next as a mother of triplets!
10
What book or author has influenced your career or perspective on life?
I am an appalling novel reader. If I have spare time, I love to sew rather than read. I do love to take inspiration from beautiful interiors books.
