Only 50 days to Christmas and it's time to start thinking about how to decorate your home for the festive season. Neill Strain discusses the trends and styles that will make Christmas 2014 a visual splendour you won't forget...
Planning the decorations for Christmas should be almost as much fun as Christmas itself. Like any home floral styling, let's start by selecting a theme that is harmonious and in-keeping with the colour scheme, style and era of the existing interiors. For instance, in a Victorian setting, heavily ornate decorations in lush green, gold and burgundy make a perfect marriage whereas a white, modern interior prefers a theme based on snowy silver baubles and birch stars to enhance the contemporary look. Personal taste also plays its role: bright, mixed colours and lots of sparkle for theatrical panache; or an organic, natural feel with seasonal foliage and berries is surprisingly elegant...
Here are a few examples of themes for inspiration:
The Christmas Tree, the mantelpiece, a window sill, the banisters, the dining-room table, the coffee table, candles, garlands and gifts; all are a festive feast for the eyes. And we can source spectacular trees and provide all the trimmings too.
Four ways to dress a fireplace, from Santa to canine, classic to Contemporary Chic.
A Hampstead home has a touch of "Organic Opulence."
Conservatory dining with the sparkle of a "Winter Wonderland."
Wintry White Roses can brighten up a window sill.
... As can bright ruby Cyclamen plants for those that have a Passion for Red.
There's a unique style for everyone and one-off, bespoke designs for every interior. With only 50 days til Christmas, feel free to pop into the Boutique and let's have a coffee and a chat about what decorations you would like to express your theme this season.
