What is one destination that has inspired your creativity, and why?

It must be Bassano del Grappa, but I’m not sure I am happy about giving away my secret destination, missed by most tourist (except the Italians) Its charm is more than natural beauty, nestled at the foothills of Monte Grappa. Bassano is chic with old charm to its core. Whenever I am there, I am always inspired. The vibrant food scene and ever-growing list of cocktail bars. The young here are trend setters. I’m a sucker for a classic cocktail but cannot resist trying many of the super infused, considered and beautiful drinks they offer. Pad at the ready, I’m always making notes to take back to London.

Can you share an unforgettable experience from your travels that left a lasting impression?

As a 19-year-old I travelled to Australia to pick fruit for a year. Along the way I hatched a plan to travel back to the UK without flying, which I did, over 5 months. Trains, busses and automobiles (but no planes) Its always stayed with me and allowed me to face the next challenge, my early seminal years, what a treat.

Which season inspires you most in your work and why?

I would have to say Autumn for its comforting flavours. The cooler weather naturally inclines people towards comforting foods. Autumn inspires flavours from roasting, braising, and slow-cooking, particularly appealing for me, both savoury and sweet dishes.

What recent project or achievement are you most proud of, and how did it impact your business or clients?

Our recent event in Cannes was a highlight last year, a long weekend for 40 guests. A client’s significant birthday, to be intrusted to our team. I was so proud to see our expert chefs create banquets, picnics & long lunches with our front of house treating guests with memorable moments. Watching it all happen was a proud moment, reminding me why we do this.

What would a perfect, inspiring day in London look like for you?

A small but perfectly crafted day for me is a trip in May to Chelsea Physics Gardens. Best in bloom and low on tourist, this quiet spot on the Thames is a great for the early summer flower hit. Then a short walk over the Thames to Aspen & Meursault for a bottle of Pouilly-Fuissé.

What is your go-to spot in London for an unforgettable experience?

I’m a man who likes simple things in life, and for me, Sunday at the Canton Arms with friends in Autunm for lunch is my go-to spot. Paired with their house magnum of Claret. The real London.

Is there a particular flower that holds special meaning or significance for you?

Giving away more secrets and not to over share but I do have several tattoos. My most recent, sweet peas, Mum’s favourite, a fitting tribute.

If you could send flowers to one person, who would it be and why?

It would be my close friend Mark who gave me my first break in events. After a successful career running my own interior design business for many years, it sadly closed in the 2008 crash. Mark suggested I channelled my creativity into events, and the rest is history.

Is there a film or piece of art that resonates with your personal or professional philosophy?

I love a weepy film, and my all-time favourite is Stand by Me. Friendship the core of its message and I couldn’t think if anything more important. I’m very blessed with great friends.

10

What book or author has influenced your career or perspective on life?

Arthur Parkinson’s most recent book, The Flower Yard. This young creative has a passion for planting beautiful pots for every season. The beauty of seasonal English flowers has inspired me to create my own seaside courtyard garden in Brighton. I suppose it’s all about simple beauty, if that can be classed as a perspective on life?
