The lead up to Christmas is our busiest and most exciting time of the year when it comes to styling our clients' homes. And what makes it so exciting is the designs we can create which have not only our usual focus on elegance and opulence, but, thanks to the season, we can introduce a theatrical sense of humour, almost whimsical, using pumpkins and gourds for Halloween and Thanksgiving and of course baubles and ornaments for Christmas. With my past studies in theatrical lighting and set design, I adore this combination of drama and sophistication which we also express in our Belgravia boutique window display.
The designing we do for our clients' homes can be extensive, sometimes including every room of the house, even bathrooms and children's bedrooms. We begin with the front door and create the mood of what's to come; this is the role of the door wreath for Christmas while for Halloween and Thanksgiving we make a display with candles, pumpkins, gourds, berries and festive branches of the season.
The entrance hallway is a place to showcase a tall design, either freestanding or on a table dictated by the interiors of the home. At this time of year, an urn arrangement filled with mixed Autumn foliages makes a wonderful expression of seasonal colour.
Designs for the living space and the dining room, particularly when guests are invited and the dining room table takes centre stage, demand our finest seasonal flowers. Here is a small selection, including our stunning Dahlias, Hydrangeas, Roses, Protea, Berries and Vanda Orchids, all of which are absolutely gorgeous for Thanksgiving.
And here's an arrangement with some of these beautiful blooms in one of our elegant containers in the colours of the season.
For a bathroom, a kitchen or a home office, we would create a contemporary design using succulents, foliage or berries in one of our unusual containers for a striking, quite modern effect.
We make sure we always have a wide choice of floral gifts at the boutique for Thanksgiving, a couture hand-tied bouquet, a floral arrangement or a plant design, such as these...
Floral styling interiors for Christmas follows similar rules as styling for Halloween and Thanksgiving. An impressive entrance to the home with an opulent door wreath designed in the colour scheme of the decorations inside; floral arrangements incorporating Christmas foliage, winter berries and festive baubles throughout; a spectacular table display for the Christmas dinner; and why not a few Orchids and baubles in the bath tub to surprise your guests on Christmas Day! But it is the Christmas Tree, that I personally choose from our Christmas Tree farm in Oxfordshire, ladened with hundreds of exquisite decorations, that takes centre stage in the home for Christmas. The colour trends for 2016 are gold, copper and white as well as the traditional red and green, so here are a few atmospheric images to inspire you.
There will be much more on Christmas next month so watch out for my November blog post. In the meantime, do pop into the boutique and enjoy our heart-warming Autumn displays before we dress for Christmas on November 1st. And in the meantime, you can see more of our Christmas designs on the website.
Should you like to have a chat with me or one of my team regarding your decorations for Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas or any other occasion, we will be delighted to do so and let our festive creativity excite you as much as it excites us.
Florally yours,
Neill x
