01
What is one destination that has inspired your creativity, and why?
I’ve been fortunate to travel extensively, both professionally and for leisure, having visited 66 countries and counting. Each destination has offered something unique, yet I always find myself drawn back to London. There’s an energy here and many of my close friends work in the creative industries, so there’s always something interesting happening that makes London feel fresh.
02
Can you share an unforgettable experience from your travels that left a lasting impression?
This is a difficult question to answer, but I’ve never been disappointed when visiting Africa. One of my most memorable recent trips was to Botswana and the Okavango Delta – a fantastic experience. Witnessing wildlife in such a distinctive and unspoiled habitat felt truly special.
03
Which season inspires you most in your work and why?
It would have to be spring or summer, primarily because of the light and the longer days. There’s a certain energy that comes with this time of year – a vibrancy that I find genuinely inspiring.
04
What recent project or achievement are you most proud of, and how did it impact your business or clients?
Mandarin Oriental is entering an exciting period of growth, and in terms of projects, it would have to be one of our new openings – in particular Mandarin Oriental Mayfair. The property now features a striking rooftop bar with panoramic views across London, which has quickly become a highlight. Opening a new destination and witnessing guests enjoying a thoughtfully designed space is always a special moment. Having this new hotel on home turf also means I can spend more time there, which makes the experience all the more rewarding.
05
What would a perfect, inspiring day in London look like for you?
I’d start my day with a glorious croissant and cappuccino at Marchesi in Mayfair, followed by a quick browse through some of my favourite shops in the neighbourhood and the arcades of St James’s. I always love to pop into Fortnum & Mason, then hop across the street to the Royal Academy of Arts. For lunch, I’d probably meet a dear friend to try a new restaurant – I always keep a list of places I want to explore. Then it’s back home, ideally to enjoy a few rays in the garden.
06
What is your go-to spot in London for an unforgettable experience?
I have a few favourites, but it really depends on my mood – and, of course, the occasion. At the moment, I’m loving Martin Kuczmarski’s The Dover. It has a vibrant atmosphere and a certain buzz to it – if you can get a table!
07
Is there a particular flower that holds special meaning or significance for you?
I love orchids, and you’ll always find one or two in my home. I’m especially drawn to white orchids – perhaps because of my years working with Asia-based companies and, of course, my travels. Over time, I’ve come to truly appreciate their elegance and quiet beauty.
08
If you could send flowers to one person, who would it be and why?
Probably my mother and my grandmother as they love flowers and truly appreciate their beauty.
09
Is there a film or piece of art that resonates with your personal or professional philosophy?
I own a piece of art that reflects part of my life journey so far, which I received as a birthday gift. It’s a limited edition, numbered to match the age I was turning at the time. The artwork is titled California Cruising by the artist Steve Tandy. It’s a fun, graffiti style piece of art that makes me smile.
10
What book or author has influenced your career or perspective on life?
I wouldn’t say I have a particular book or author that’s shaped my perspective. Rather, it’s been my own experiences – especially living in different countries – that have influenced how I see the world.
